An Ode to Mother

Christine Eckenstein Drautz is the mother of Christine Drautz Beorchia.  Christine Eckenstein Drautz was born on 16 September 1892 in Wittlingen, Loerrach, Baden, Germany.
On 20 April 1991, Christine Beorchia wrote a 7-page journal entry entitled 'An Ode to my Mother'. Below is an excerpt from that entry.

"When we lived still all together, she would sew pretty dresses for us!  On Sundays we were dressed alike.  She lived what she thought and always was an example to us. Mother also taught us how to be thrifty.  We had to help in the house, even when we were small: scrub the sink every Saturday, clean and shine the shoes every day, sweep the floor, and clean the stove (a woodburning stove) every day, take the ashes out of the oven and the stove, wash all the wooden floors and scrub with soaps. Also the wooden stairway outside was washed every Saturday. Even as a teenager, when I came home for a visit, I would do those things for Mother."
